Thierry De Cordier

• Born in Belgium in 1954 Thierry De Cordier is a contemporary artist with works in painting, drawing, sculpture, installations and poetry. His art is expressive and reminiscent of 17th century Chinese paintings in his depictions of northern Europe.
• Thierry De Cordier was one of my favorite artists I saw while in venice, I suppose this would be because of the vivid expressive beauty I saw in his paintings. At the Venice Biennale De Cordier had a room where he placed paintings of the sea and mountains, done in such a way that one could easily see the passion the artist brought to his painting in every brush stroke. The way he used light and dark to show moment and how the subtle colors just seemed to fade, bleeding an inky depth to his composition, absolutely breath taking.
