Walter De Maria (1935-2013)

• American artist and musician, Walter De Maria is known for use of industrial material displayed in minimalist geometric shapes and arrangements. De Maria was born in California and studied art history from the University of California, Berkeley. Although trained as a painter he is far more known for his use of sculpture and other media. 
• At the time that I was in Venice I was not aware that sculptor Walter De Maria had died just this summer. So while in person I was hoping for more from De Maria I simply did not know he was in such bad health and that this last piece of his still very much reflected his style of simple yet intricately places sculptural arrangements. 
• You will always be remembered, Rest In Peace Walter.
