Lynette Yiadom-Boakye
- Lynette was born in London (1977) where she currently based. As a young artist she is known world wide and exhibits frequently, showing mostly figurative works. Yiadom-Boakye is known for her use of muted earth colors to portray her subject in a naturalistic manor.
- Although Lynette's art work is rather widely sought after I had not heard of her until travailing to Venice. There her art was exhibited in two separate events (the Central Pavilion and a collateral event The Future Generation Art Prize). I no doubt found her to be one of my favorite painters at the biennale, I like how she painted her subjects in a simple yet naturalistic way, yet still leaving room for an expressive style. I liked how she would use her paint layers sparingly in areas where detail is not required yet making thicker, fuller layers of paint to bring detail into certain focal points of her paintings.
