Hiorns
Roger Hiorns
- Born in Birmingham, England in 1975, the art of Roger Hiorns forces the viewer to see ordinary objects in extraordinary ways. Working almost exclusively with sculptural forms, he sees, and creates, art where others see merely industrial objects of rote utility, bringing wonder to the mundane.
- At the Biennale Hiorns' installation consisted of ground granite arranged in a sort of island landscape. on the vinyl label it said the piece was made from "ground granite alter stone" with that in mind I think this piece was meant to represent a sort of ethereal island, a scale model to an idealistic land. I found myself imagining I were the size of one of those ground up particles on the floor and how the landscape would look, a peaceful beautiful desert?
