Ray

Charles Ray

  • Ray was born 1953 in Chicago. Ray graduating with his BFA from the University of Iowa and received his MFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts. Ray said that much of his inspiration on the production of his art comes greatly from the constructivist aesthetic of artists like Anthony Caro and David Smith. Ray is currently the head of the sculpture department of UCLA
  • At the biennale Ray exhibited an over sized flight attendant sculpture. Before going to Venice I was exited to get to see art work by Charles Ray being that I have never actually seen one before. I love how he uses size to create a different perspective on the mundane. Such as in this case the over sized manikin draws attention to a role usually overlooked.
