Achilles G. Rizzoli

  • Born in California in 1896 Achilles Rizzoli was a secretive artist never exhibiting his work during his life time. Rizzoli had no formal education but a wealth of knowledge and talent, working as a draftsman for most of his life. Rizzoli produced numerous works and series of art works, his own language and anagrams. He is most known for his precise architectural renderings. Rizzoli died in 1982
  • Although an outsider artist with little formal training Rizzoli was among some of the most talented individuals at the Biennale his rendering done in colored ink on vellum and rag paper displaying his loved ones as architectural monuments such as in the photo to the right, Achilles made this drawing called Mrs. Geo. Powleson Symbolically Portrayed. In the description at the bottom of the drawing he writes "In appreciation for her remark, "you are a jewel"". I really wish I could have met this individual in person, may he long be remembered.
